Reorder PDF Pages

Drag and drop page thumbnails into any order, then download the rearranged PDF. Runs entirely in your browser — no upload required.

How to Reorder PDF Pages

  1. Open the Reorder Pages tool at pdfforge.cc/reorder-pages.
  2. Drop your PDF into the upload area. Thumbnail previews of all pages will appear in a grid.
  3. Drag any page thumbnail to a new position. The other pages shift automatically to fill the gap.
  4. When the order looks correct, click Save New Order. The rearranged PDF downloads instantly.

When Is Reordering Pages Necessary?

Page reordering is needed more often than most people expect. Some common scenarios include:

  • Scanner output — Many flatbed scanners produce pages in an unexpected order (e.g., odd pages first, then even pages). Reordering interleaves them correctly.
  • Assembled reports — When combining multiple PDFs with the Merge tool, you might realise after merging that two sections should be swapped. Reorder to fix without starting over.
  • Presentation decks — Reorder slides to match a revised presentation agenda without editing the original software.
  • Book layout — When preparing a PDF for printing, page order must follow a specific imposition sequence (e.g., for booklet-style printing where page 1 and last page print on the same sheet).
  • Legal and compliance documents — Regulatory submissions often require specific page sequences. Reordering allows you to comply without re-creating the document.

Reorder vs. Split and Merge — Which to Use?

If you need to move a small number of pages, the Reorder Pages tool is the fastest option — drag a few thumbnails and you are done. However, if you need to interleave two separate PDFs (e.g., merge odd-numbered pages from document A with even-numbered pages from document B), the Split PDF and Merge PDF tools used in combination give more control. Split each document into individual pages, then merge them in the desired sequence. For large documents with complex interleaving, this two-step approach is generally more reliable.

Does Reordering Affect Page Quality?

No. The Reorder Pages tool copies pages directly from the source PDF without any re-rendering. The output PDF has exactly the same content, fonts, images and resolution as the original — just in a different sequence. No quality is lost regardless of how many times you reorder the same document.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I reorder pages on a mobile device?

Yes. The drag-and-drop interface works on touch devices. On mobile, press and hold a page thumbnail until it lifts, then drag it to the new position. This works in modern mobile browsers on both iOS and Android.

Is there a limit to how many pages I can reorder?

There is no enforced page limit. However, loading thumbnails for very large documents (hundreds of pages) may take a few seconds depending on your device. The reordering itself is instant once the thumbnails are loaded.

Can I reverse the page order with one click?

The full PDFForge app includes a Reverse All button that flips the entire page order in one click — useful when a scanner has produced pages in reverse order.

What happens to bookmarks and links after reordering?

Internal bookmarks and links (hyperlinks pointing to page numbers within the document) may point to the wrong pages after reordering, since the page numbers change. External links (pointing to URLs) are unaffected. If your document has important internal navigation, review it after reordering.

Can I also rotate pages at the same time as reordering?

Reordering and rotating are separate operations. Rotate pages first using the Rotate PDF tool, save the result, then reorder the rotated file using the Reorder Pages tool.
